FORMER MEDIAONE AND ROAD RUNNER EXECUTIVE JOINS NANTUCKET-BASED WIBLAST COMMUNICATIONS
NANTUCKET, MA (October 13, 2005) Larry S. Levine, a former senior executive with MediaOne and one of the founders of the Road Runner broadband data joint venture, has joined Nantucket-based WiBlast Communications.
WiBlast, which provides wireless high-speed Internet access on Nantucket, is poised to expand both domestically and internationally. Levine has invested in WiBlast and will serve as a member of the senior executive team guiding the growth of the company on Nantucket and its expansion into other markets. He has recently become a full-time Nantucket resident.
"WiBlast, since its inception a little over 12 months ago, has made tremendous progress in providing an attractively priced and reliable wireless broadband Internet service to both residents of and visitors to Nantucket," Levine said. Levine has more than 25 years of experience in the cable television and telecommunications business. He was formerly Vice President of Multimedia Ventures for MediaOne, Inc. a broadband communications company providing video, voice and data services to more than 8 million households. While with MediaOne, Levine was instrumental in the formation of the Road Runner joint venture, which provided broadband Internet access to over 2 million Time Warner Cable and MediaOne subscribers.
Levine was on the Board of Road Runner prior to becoming Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Road Runner, where he was responsible for negotiating all hardware, software and programming agreements, managing a portfolio of Internet company investments and overseeing the international and business services activities of the company. Following his departure from Road Runner in 2001, Levine has been a consultant to the cable and telecommunications industries.
